IT Surgery gives friendly, practical IT help to homes and businesses across Penarth, Barry and Cardiff, with remote support anywhere in the UK. We come to you, and we explain things in language that makes sense. Founded and led by Darren Pilkington.
The experience behind IT Surgery
Our founder spent 25 years designing and securing IT for some of the world's largest organisations, and that is the standard we work to. A few examples, in plain terms:
- Kept a global energy company running while closing four data centres: 2,000 servers moved to new homes with no data lost.
- Secured access for 65,000 staff at a global IT services group: who can log in, to what, and how it is checked.
- Moved hundreds of servers into the cloud for an international airline group, with multi-factor sign-in on everything and the set-up automated so it could be rebuilt in hours, not weeks.
- Protected a UK pensions provider's sensitive financial data during a move to the cloud, with zero data loss.
- Built the IT for a brand-new joint-venture business from scratch: servers, storage, security, backups and 200 staff computers.
- Set up offices in Kazakhstan, Nigeria and Algeria for energy companies, from the cabling to the login.
- Global remote-working systems for 50-plus countries, so people could work securely from anywhere, years before it was normal.
